Happy Birthday, Abigail!
Abigail turned three this past Monday. We really had a great time. Our friends the Kraude's, the Lawless', the Peterson's, and the Gladwell's came and celebrated with us. We cooked out, and then the kids attempted to bust a pinata. (This was our first pinata--parents you have to rough it up first before the kid's get there).
Then we had a delicious princess cake and ice cream. Lot's of fun. The highlight of the evening for me was when all the kids were sitting around the kitchen table and we started singing "Happy Birthday," Abigail was just singing along with everybody and when it came time to say "...happy birthday dear Abigail.." her face just lit up. I think that is when it finally sunk in that this party was for her.
All in all, it was great. She got far too many gifts. Her favorite being her FurReal puppy she has named "Sugar,"
And the pink canopy she got from Grandma.

One of "those" moms....
I have become something I never intended to be....I am that mom that hates for her kids to grow up. Abigail is turning three on Monday, and I am kind of getting mopey about it. In my mind every birthday is just a countdown until she starts kindergarten, which will be sad for me. I will be the mother that comes home and cries when Abigail starts school! When did I become such a loser?

Summertime
We were outside yesterday evening after Adrian and I went to the gym, and Abigail was just running around with the sheer joy that children have from being outside. I was sitting there holding Adam and sitting on the stairs of our deck, and I noticed that she was jumping up and reaching toward the sky. I asked her what she was doing, and she said she was "trying to catch them." What?....the "cowds." These childlike discovery moments are just too adorable.
I ran inside to get the camera, hoping to capture one on film, and she didn't disappoint. Abigail was then saying, "bird? bird?" And at one point a bird got kind of close to us, and then quickly flew away. But, she tried to find it in this bush. She kept saying "Bird, it's me, Abigail." "Here bird, it's Abigail."

It was a nice evening, and I wanted to capture it. Adrian was working on our money pit of a house, so I had to take it myself.

Solicitation
I think I might need a "no solicitation" sign in my front yard for the rednecks that apparently live in my town. Yesterday there was a knock at my door. I open it, and there stands a young boy about 7-8 years old. I don't know him, and I look behind him and see that there is an idling vehicle in front of my house, in which I assume was a parent. I smile at this boy and he proceeds to say that he is taking donations. At this point my smile gets a little tight...and as he proceeds the smile is gone and and the eyebrow goes up. HE IS TAKING DONATIONS SO HE CAN GO TO BASEBALL CAMP! He calmly explains that it costs $400 and the money is due next week. I attempt to glare at the Dodge Durango sitting in the street, but the windows are tinted, of course. I grudgingly gave the kid my most wrinkled up dollar, and sent him on his way.
As Teresa from New Jersey would say....Puh-Lease!

My Sweet Boy
I can't believe that Adam is two and a half months old! He is such a good baby. He seems very content with life. He sleeps pretty good at night, and only gets fussy when he is tired or hungry.
This is his usual expression. I interpret it as just hanging out and slightly bored.
He loves to be outside, and is pretty happy at the pool.

And lately he has been giving us cute grins.

He is very dark complected, and his baby blue eyes look like the blue that will stay blue. He is really cute.

Pocahontas
Today I watched Disney's Pocahontas with Abigail. It was an old VHS that my mom had and gave to Abigail. What a disappointment. It stinks. Even Abigail was confused at the end. She looked at me and said "He's waving bye-bye?" If a two year old thinks the ending sucks to a cartoon movie--it's a bad movie.
On a brighter note, I made a Martha Stewart meal today. Grilled chicken sandwiches, with an heirloom tomato salad, grilled potato slices, and a peach crumble. It was enjoyable. I bought all the herbs I didn't want to waste my money on, and even put basil in the dessert. It was nice. A good alternative to the usual sloppy joes.

Core Rhythms
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I am now the owner of Core Rhythms. I really don't know what happened. Early last Saturday morning, I was feeding Adam and flipped on the TV and instantly became mesmerized by this infomercial. I would flip away from it, and come back to it. I kept staring at these incredibly toned abs of two weird ladies (one has pink hair). Needless to say that my postpartum bod is still a tub of goo. So, here is to the hope of incredibly toned abs--I got it in the mail today!
